Metropolitan Doulas is owned by Ayesha Chatterjee and Betsy Quilligan, both experienced DC postpartum doulas, lactation counselors, and perinatal mental health advocates.
When established in 2015, Metropolitan Doulas was one of the first doula agencies in the Washington, DC area that focused exclusively on postpartum care. As owners of the agency since 2022, we continue to ensure the professional, quality, and personalized support that local families have received from us for the past decade.
We focus on daytime postpartum doula services, overnight newborn care, and newborn care classes. We envision a community that values and respects everyone, and welcome postpartum doulas with diverse experiences and families of different traditions and formations into our circle of care.
As parents with our own postpartum stories, we have a strong shared vision of quality and compassionate postpartum doula support when it is needed most - the unpredictable weeks after birth, when a new parent may feel less confident or effective than they wish.
