We have a team of wonderful postpartum doulas that are ready to meet you for a free* consultation, to discuss how they can best support the needs of your growing family.
Our doulas have completed the requisite training in postpartum doula care. They have been through background checks and insurance verification. Beyond competence in knowledge and skills, they have also been screened for qualities essential to the role: openness and objectivity, sensitivity and compassion, humility and mindfulness, intuition and initiative. These essential qualities make our doulas the doulas they are… and the doulas you want for your postpartum journey.

Our Leadership
Metropolitan Doulas was established in March 2015 and changed ownership in April 2022.
Doulas Ayesha (Chatterjee) and Betsy (Quilligan) – longstanding members of our team – got together to build on the foundation and team created by co-founders, Nikki Wray and Kathleen McCue. With years of experience in perinatal health – as doulas, lactation counselors, and maternal and mental health advocates – Ayesha and Betsy are committed to providing quality postpartum care to families with newborns in Washington DC, Northern Virginia, and Maryland.
Our Administrative Team
Amber has been with us since September 2021 and now acts as the Operations Manager. Along with keeping things running behid the scenes, she helps connect clients with their perfect doula! Amber is a wife and mom of 1, and she loves helping to advocate for parents as they navigate the changes a new baby brings.
* Your first phone/video consultation is free. When booking both an overnight and a daytime doula, you receive two free consultations. If additional consultations are desired, a $25 fee per additional consultation will apply.
